Many times, it is better to repair an existing motor, than to replace it with a new one.
This is true for many reasons, but one of the most prevalent reasons, is that they just don't make that particular model anymore. If your motor was made before the end of 1996, chances are todays newer style motors, will not fit your application, unless you change many items beside the motor itself.
Most of the major brands of tubular motors have changed the motors designs, moving the location of the override shaft (for instance), to a differet location. The mounting plates, and even the override shaft itself, is now a different shape (hexagon, instead of the old 8 mm square shaft).
The location of the hole for the override is now in a different place, so even the cover for the shutter box (housing), may need to be replaced. Replacing the shutter housing alone, can cost upwards of $400.00, so repairing, vs. replacing makes financial sense!
Rather, than replace all these various items, as well as the new motor cost, we recomend repairing the existing motor, so you know that all else fits the motor you currently have.
